Jonno Zilber (ACT)
Jonno is a talented young guitarist, singer and songwriter who has been performing since he was 12 years old. Starting off as just another kid learning classical music on a keyboard, he first became interested in the blues after hearing the Muddy Waters song 'Mannish Boy'. Since then, Jonno's musical passion has been blues.
With a natural gift for witty observations and instrumental skills that are beyond his years, Jonno delivers decades of blues and folk tracks with youthful enthusiasm and a fresh energy that leaves no doubt that he is a future star of the Australian blues circuit.
Jonno has developed a good following as an energetic acoustic guitar player
and performer with a powerful voice. His individual brand of blues,
described as 'Tom Waits meets Brownie McGhee' and his big stage presence
has led him to be a two time winner of the Canberra Roots Music 'Young
Performer of the Year' award and one of the five finalists in the 2006
National Youth Week 'RockIt' music competition (Jonno was the only blues
artist to make it to the finals).
Jonno has performed with Eugene 'Hideaway' Bridges as well as popular Australian blues acts such as Lloyd Spiegel, Dutch Tilders and Matt Corcoran.
Winner of Canberra Blues Society 'Best Male Vocalist' 2009.

"...His guitar playing makes it seem like the guitar is just an extension
