Andrea Marr & the Funky Hitmen (VIC)
Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Andrea Marr has been singing the blues since 1999, making quite a splash in the Australian blues scene and earning her fans around the world for her brand of sassy, soulful blues.
The Andrea Marr Band has been delivering high energy, feel good shows to audiences around Australia and is one of the most sought after blues bands in the thriving Melbourne blues scene.
This pint-sized powerhouse won the 2002 'Female Blues Artist of the Year' award with her CD 'Sassified', then won the coveted Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society 2005 Blues Performer of the Year which allowed her to represent Australia in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee at BB King's Blues Club.
'Watch Me Work It' earned her international airplay and rave reviews with Rhythm Magazine's Al Hensley naming it as one of the best albums of 2006. It is distinctly Australian soul/blues and features Lloyd Spiegel on guitar. The title track was chosen to be on the US compilation CD 'National Women in Blues 2007' launching the newest wave of US blues women - Andrea was the only non-American on the album.
It is a world class effort that rips you out of your seat and doesn't let you go, and when it does you want to do it all over again!" - Rooster McBlurter, Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society
