Special international guest artists: Finis Tasby & Enrico Crivellaro (USA)

Finis Tasby with guitarist Enrico Crivellaro featured at the Australian Blues Music Festival in 2006.

Finis (rhymes with Highness) Tasby was born in 1940 in Levon on the outskirts of Dallas, Texas. He was the last of ten children, hence the name Finis, his mother named him after the Latin word for finish-the end.

In 1958, Finis moved to Fort Worth, where he began to get work as a drummer in a band called the Blues Busters. Eventually he returned to Dallas in the early 60s, switched to bass guitar and formed a band with some friends which he named The Thunderbirds. This band worked as headliners on mini-tours of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas. They also backed distinguished artists such as Lowell Fulson, Freddy King, Jimmy McCracklin and Solomon Burke.

With Finis approval, Jimmy Vaughan acquired the name The Thunderbirds after the band broke up, the rest is history. From 1976 to 1983, he worked as an auto-mechanic and took gigs when they became available, playing bass behind John Lee Hooker for a short time.

While standing in for Hollywood Fats Band vocalist Al Blake on a gig in Laguna Beach California in 1983, Finis was spotted by a casting director and landed a role in the Burt Reynolds movie Sharkeys Machine. During this time, Finis began working regularly at the Starboard Attitude Club in Redondo Beach as a band leader, singing and playing bass. Finis is currently touring the US promoting his new CD and is a member of the Mannish Boys.
