Mojo Webb & Band (QLD)
Utterly fresh and unique but steeped in the tradition of real, authentic blues, Mojo's music is truly worldclass.
With charisma and a naturally captivating stage presence, Mojo breathes new life into roots-based sounds. Equally at home with a band or in solo performance; in the most specialised fields of true blues or on a pop festival stage, Mojo transcends all age and fashion barriers.
He spent six years touring Australia with Buzz & The Blues Band, then spent several years gigging reclusively around his native South-East Queensland and overseas. Mojo is now taking his breathtaking sound to new audiences everywhere with his all-original debut album 'The Burden'. Triple J airplay and constant gigging are helping take the Mojo word to the street!
"Mojo has been described as a rare talent. After catching a couple of shows, there's no argument from me. He's a natural performer who fairly smoulders on guitar and vocals...and blues harp...and sax...and drums." - Mark Voisey, The Courier Mail (1/10/05)
"When you're at a performance, you have to wonder how one performer can be so impossibly talented as a singer, guitarist and harp player. He pours bittersweet emotion in every note and he fills the stage with the intensity of its expression...And of course Mojo's musicianship is consummate (on every instrument). Most musicians attain a certain profiency on just one. Mojo has nailed them all. The harp...you'd be be hard pressed to find Mojo's equal on this instrument anywhere in the country. And that voice, where the hell does that come from? Passionate, poignant and exquisitely emotive..." - The Groove (internet edition), A publication of the Blues Association of South East Queensland (25/11/05)
"The Burden features some of the most authentic sounding blues tracks composed anywhere in recent times... As far as blues records go, this is just about as good as it gets. In fact, it almost soothes the pain of the loss of so many blues greats over the past year. But who would've thought a record this good would come from a 32-yearold skinny white guy from Brisbane..." - Time Off (12/05)
"A riveting, well focussed, mature and self-assured debut from this amazing talent. Mojo Webb's grainy yet soaring vocals will rip your heart out and tear it to shreds, but you won't even notice, 'cause the rest of your body will still be boogyin' to the fattest blues grooves an iPod/CD/mp3 player can hold. And of course he's even better live..". - Mark Doherty 'Nothin But The Blues', National Community Radio Network
Winner of the Bluestar Peoples' Choice Award 2007 for Best Australasian Solo Artist and Best Australasian Instrumentalist - Acoustic Guitar.
