With a musical maturity rarely seen in one so young, 19 year old Melbourne blues guitarist Stephen Bowtell's passionate and soulful playing truly defies his age.

His intensity and beautifully fluid lines have impressed audiences at his live performances - leaving them stunned and wanting to know "who is that guy?"

Quiet and soft-spoken, this teen is single minded and passionate about his music and wants what he plays to touch people's soul. This focus definitely comes through when you hear him play.

Primarily self-taught, Stephen picked up his first guitar at age 6, had a few lessons at school when he was 10 but found formal teaching too restrictive. Stephen went on to "teach himself" by listening to the blues artists he admires and applying himself to hours of daily practice.

For Stephen, it's always been all about the blues. He has an innate understanding and feel for this style of music but applies a modern twist to it when playing.

At just 19, Stephen is at the beginning of his musical career. He has played live shows Australia wide as guest or opening act for other well-known artists and earlier this year toured Tasmania with his own band.

During the remainder of 2007, Stephen is putting most of his focus into completing his album - "Walk on the Blue Side" which is in the final stages of production and due for release early 2008.
